Raj Shankar’s Archive
A personal blog about fantasy storytelling, JRPGs, adaptation, memory, and the stories that shaped me.
I’m Raj Shankar.
I’m building fantasy retellings from the stories that stayed with me — stories about memory, grief, friendship, war, love, and the burden of carrying old worlds forward.
I’ll also be sharing pieces of my life in San Diego with my giant goofball, keeping the Archive grounded.
This space is still taking shape, but I’m glad you’re here.
More is coming soon — essays, updates, memories, and pieces of the worlds I’m rebuilding.
Start here, stay awhile, and follow along as the Archive grows.
Life Behind The Archive
Here’s a short video of us playing at the Coronado Dog Beach
My first project is a fan-made retelling of The Legend of Dragoon, a 1999 cult classic Sony JRPG video game that has stayed with me ever since I first played the game over 20 years ago.
The Legend of Dragoon: The Chains of Fate
I’ve been expanding The Legend of Dragoon: The Chains of Fate into a full audiobook adaptation, along with BTS breakdowns, lore discussions, and production updates on my Substack.
The first 10 chapters of Volume One: The Serdian War are currently available, and I’ll be posting two new updates each week as the project continues.
I’ll also be sharing:
🎙️ 30-60 second audiobook previews
⚔️ Lore / reconstruction discussions
🛠️ Behind-the-scenes production updates
If you’d like to follow the project and listen along, feel free to check out my page and subscribe for future updates.
Thank you all so much for being here — this project has been years in the making, and I appreciate the support!
